Quad Voter Circuitry:
Each DO3401 Digital Output Module incorporates Quad Voter circuitry, which ensures that only valid output signals are applied to the load. This voting system relies on a series of parallel paths that pass power when two out of three channels (A, B, or C) command them to close, ensuring redundancy and safety in case of faults. The patented Quad Voter system guarantees maximum availability by minimizing the risk of output failures.
Diagnostic & Fault Management:
- Output Voter Diagnostic (OVD): Periodically runs to check for faults, such as stuck-on or stuck-off points. The OVD routine detects these faults within 500 milliseconds and activates a fault alarm if necessary.
- Channel-Specific Diagnostics: The module continuously monitors the health of each channel. If a fault is detected in any channel, the Fault indicator lights up to notify operators, and the system alarm is triggered. However, the failure of one channel does not result in a complete module failure due to the TMR design, allowing the module to continue operation even with certain faults.
- Hot-Spare Module Support: The DO3401 supports hot-swapping, allowing for minimal downtime during maintenance and increasing system reliability.
Baseplate Compatibility:
The DO3401 Digital Output Module can be used with various baseplates, offering flexibility for different application types:
- Model 2401: Standard baseplate for typical applications.
- Model 2401L: Baseplate for low-current applications where current limiting is required, featuring a 180 ohm series resistor on each output.
- DO External Termination Baseplate: Used for high-voltage applications or hazardous locations when paired with the 9671-610 DO Hazardous Location External Termination Panel.
